Electronic Damper Control

Electronic damper control refers to the continuous, map-controlled adjustment of the damper settings in models with air suspension. The optimum damper setting is calculated based on several parameters at once. The dampers are regulated by electronic control depending on speed and the condition of the road. The control unit uses information from acceleration sensors on the wheels and body to calculate the most appropriate damper settings.
The driver can also influence the damping characteristic. The basic setting, a firmer sport version and a version with the emphasis on comfort are available.
Adding electronic damper control to the air suspension system therefore means extra ride comfort, driving pleasure and safety, plus improved handling capabilities when driving over loose surfaces or on off-road terrain. The system is able to compensate for any body movements and dampen the pitching vibrations produced when towing a trailer very effectively.
