Parking Brake, Electronic

The electronic parking brake replaces the usual handbrake with a switch on the instrument panel, and the conventional handbrake lever is no longer necessary. This creates more storage space between the front seats. The electronic parking brake is operated by means of two geared electric motors on the rear disc brakes. The mechanical components are designed in such a way that they will hold the parked car securely, even if the onboard electric power supply fails. Indicator lights in the instrument cluster and in the button show whether the parking brake has been activated. An operating sound also indicates that the brake is being applied.
As well as ease of control via a button, the electronic parking brake offers additional convenience and safety functions such as the Dynamic Automatic Brake Release function and theAuto Hold function.
